João Grilo

Research fellow

With a Master’s in Civil Engineering from FCT-UNL in 2013, where he completed a thesis on natural hydraulic lime mortars with a grade of 18 out of 20, he began his career as a Research Fellow at LNEC for the METACAL Project (April to September 2013). His work involved lime mortar analysis for heritage conservation and contributing to scientific publications.

He then became an Assistant Professor at IPS-ESTB (October 2013 to June 2014), responsible for coursework in Construction Materials, followed by a role as an Assistant Professor at FCT-UNL (September 2014 to February 2015), where he developed teaching materials for Civil Engineering courses. He briefly served as a QREN Fund Technician with PwC and SGMAI (November 2014 to January 2015), overseeing construction projects in national fire stations funded by European programs.

From 2015 to 2022, he held the position of Senior Technician at CM de Sintra, where he managed urban licensing processes, coordinated with various stakeholders, and conducted urbanization project inspections. He later served as a Youth Mentor at Academia da Inês (September 2022 to December 2023), guiding secondary school students in personal and academic growth.

In November 2023, he joined IST-UL as the Operational Manager for the PRR R2U Technologies | Modular System Project.
