Eloisa Castilho

Research fellow

Eloísa is a civil engineer, graduated in 2004, at the University of Coimbra. She began her career as a structural engineer, working for several years in the field. In 2013 she obtained her Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, having developed her dissertation at the Portuguese National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC). Afterwards, she worked and carried out her research at LNEC, as a Junior Research Fellow, on the numerical modelling of the thermal-chemo-mechanical behaviour of concrete dams. Eloísa joined CORE Group (IST) in 2019, within the scope of the FireFloor research project, which focused on the fire behaviour of GFRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) sandwich panels. This project aligned with her PhD studies, where she continues to delve into the fire performance of advanced materials. In addition to her ongoing PhD work, Eloísa has also sought to expand the application of her knowledge by contributing to the R2UT project, where she engages in experimental, numerical, and analytical research regarding the fire performance of modular reinforced concrete buildings.
