Research Fellows Team Visits Vigobloco to Share Progress and Define Future Directions

On March 7, the research fellows’s team, led by Professor André Furtado, participated in a technical visit to Vigobloco Pré-Fabricados de Betão, SA. The visit was led by Administrator Nélia Saraiva and Engineer Romain Sousa, coordinator of the prefabrication activity, who provided valuable insights into the industrial processes and strategic vision of Vigobloco.

The morning session was dedicated to a guided tour of the facilities, where the team had the opportunity to closely observe the entire production process of precast concrete walls. From raw material preparation and casting to curing, finishing, and quality control, the visit offered a comprehensive look at the precision and rigorous standards required in the manufacturing of high-performance prefabricated elements.

In the afternoon session, each research fellow delivered a presentation summarizing the progress of their respective activities within the project. This exchange of knowledge was fundamental for aligning research with industrial applications and ensuring that the ongoing developments meet the project’s objectives.

Beyond the technical aspects, the meeting was crucial for reinforcing the collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring that the next phases of the project are well-structured and aligned with real-world needs. Discussions held during the visit will directly contribute to the continuity and advancement of the Project, fostering the development of innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions for modular construction.

A special thank you to VigoblocoAdministrator Nélia Saraiva, and Engineer Romain Sousa for their leadership and hospitality, facilitating a highly productive meeting that plays a key role in the successful progress of the project.
