Researcher for the application of Digital Methods and Computer Vision in Civil Engineering. After completing his master’s in civil engineering at the Bauhaus-University Weimar, he worked as a researcher in various projects concerning the visual inspection of structures using computer vision. His specialization is the application of UAVs for the acquisition of images, especially the planning of flight paths for the inspection of complex structures, the topic of is ongoing PhD work.
He has further experience in the analysis of the resulting images, for example using machine learning methods and photogrammetry, for extracting information about the surface and geometry of the structure, allowing the generation of insights into the condition of a structure and its components, integrating them with digital twins to facilitate an advanced maintenance approach. He will bring this experience into the project to monitor the quality of the concrete parts during and after prefabrication, and after assembly on the construction site. His work concerns designing data acquisition, image analysis, insight generation, and integration with the processes of the project partners and the overarching data models.
